Following backlash from multiple artists, Lil Pump has apologized for a video he posted last week containing a racial slur. In the clip, Pump previewed a new song called “Butterfly Doors” that featured the lyrics: “Smokin’ on dope/ They call me Yao Ming ‘cause my eyes real low ching chong.” Following the reference to the Chinese basketball player, he made a derogatory gesture with his eyes.

“I seen the whole thing going on on the internet and all that,” Pump started. “I came here to tell you from my part that I’m sorry and I apologize for posting that. It was not my intentions to hurt nobody or do none of that.” Pump continued: “I got Asian homies, you know. I fuck with everybody and I got nothing against nobody. It’s all love.” Watch the video below.

In a now-deleted tweet, rapper and Crazy Rich Asians actor Awkwafina called out Lil Pump for the video’s “racist epithet.” Chinese rapper Lil Yijie, better known as Pissy, released a diss track called “FXXX LIL PUMP” in response to “Butterfly Doors.”
