Carole King, James Taylor and Fall Out Boy are lending their voices to a virtual concert benefiting President-elect Joe Biden’s inaugural committee.

The musical stars — along with “Designated Survivor” actor and Obama White House alum Kal Penn, will.i.am, actress Sophia Bush and “Nashville” actress Connie Britton, among others — will come together for what the Biden camp is calling its “We the People” concert. The Sunday event will be hosted by comedian Keegan-Michael Key and “Will & Grace” star Debra Messing.

In an announcement about the fundraiser, which is open to donors who give any amount to Biden’s inaugural committee, organizers called it a “first-of-its-kind virtual inaugural concert that will help benefit this historic moment in our country’s history.”

The concert is one of several virtual fundraising events being held ahead of Biden’s Jan. 20 inauguration.

On Wednesday, his inaugural committee announced that cast members from “The West Wing” and “Scandal” would team up for an online conversation on Friday “about their time ‘working’ in the White House and how it compares to the actual job.”

A number of high-profile entertainers will also be participating in the inaugural ceremony and accompanying events next week. Lady Gaga is poised to sing the national anthem at Biden’s swearing-in, and Jennifer Lopez is scheduled to perform. Tom Hanks will also host a prime-time inaugural TV special on Wednesday featuring Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Justin Timberlake.

Last month, the Presidential Inaugural Committee urged people to watch the ceremonies from home due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) has also discouraged the public from traveling to the nation’s capital next week due to concerns about potential violence from protesters following the riot at the Capitol.
