JAIPUR: Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday declared to file a defamation suit against a private news channel for running a fabricated news on his rally in Rajasthan.
Sidhu said, the channel ran a report in which people were shown shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan during his election speech at one of the rallies. The BJP is intimidated and full of fear with my legitimate questions on demonetization, poor state of farmers, women and misrule.
Thus, such conspiracies are hatched against him, he said.
Speaking at a presser in Jaipur, Sidhu said, “I think BJP is intimidated with the response Congress is getting in my rallies. I suspect there are some directions or a conspiracy that today a private news channel was running news on my rally. While I was lambasting Prime Minister’s ‘Make In India’ programme in my speech, some people in the crowd were shown shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ in the news. I always believe truth can’t be defeated. Some minutes after the news, people who had recorded my speech from their phones circulated the original video and truth prevailed,” Sidhu said.
He added that he will sit with his lawyers and file a defamation case against those responsible for running such news. “It came to my knowledge that people who were behind running similar kind of video having ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans in a news relating to JNU’s student leader Kanhaiya Kumar are behind this conspiracy.”
Accusing Modi government of “killing the democracy” and running on “autocratic” mode, Sidhu said, “They are unable to answer my legitimate questions on demonetization, safety of women, poor state of farmers and how some BJP leaders got their black money converted into white post demonetization. Thus, under a state of fear they have done this to blur my legitimate questions.”
“Yeh log sawalon se ghabratey hain, jail main phinkwatey hain, goliyan chalwatey hain (These people are scared or questions thus they put you in jail. They are into politics of fear and insecurity),” he said.
Talking to TOI, on his ‘Captain’ remark, he said, “The chief minister of Punjab is my father figure. I prefer not to wash the dirty linen in public. I love him and respect him. Whatever is there I will sort it out myself.”
