‘The Intern’: Deepika Padukone and Rishi Kapoor to come together for Indian remake of the Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro starrer

Deepika Padukone and Rishi Kapoor will soon be coming together to star in the Hindi remake of the 2015 Hollywood film ‘The Intern’, that originally featured Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in lead roles. Taking to their social media handles, Deepika and Rishi made the surprise announcement and even released a logo poster to go with it.

Deepika Padukone and Rishi Kapoor will soon be coming together to star in the Hindi remake of the 2015 Hollywood film ‘The Intern’, that originally featured Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in lead roles. Taking to their social media handles, Deepika and Rishi made the surprise announcement and even released a logo poster to go with it.
Sharing the first poster, Deepika who will also co-produce the film tweeted, “Thrilled to present my next! The Indian adaptation of #TheIntern A 2021 release! Presented by @_KaProductions @warnerbrosindia and @iAmAzure See you at the movies!”

Speaking about the film, the actress said in a statement, " 'The Intern' is an intimate, relationship-driven film, set in and around the workplace; a story that I believe is very relevant to the present-day social and cultural environment.
I have been looking for a light, breezy comedy-drama and this story fits in seamlessly. I cannot wait to begin this journey.”

Sharing his excitement to work with Deepika, Rishi said, "'The Intern' is a very relevant film for the present-day Indian workplace milieu and it showcases human relationships beautifully. I am very excited to be working with Deepika and being a part of this heart-warming story."

The film that is slated for a 2021 release, will mark Deepika’s second production venture after ‘Chhapaak’ that brought the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal to the big screen.
Rishi, on the other hand, was last seen in the thriller, ‘The Body’, co-starring Emraan Hashmi.
