This is a compilation of notices for major bus service diversions that are planned over the next few weeks, recent service changes, and other news that may be of interest to our bus riders. Route-specific information is given first, with listings by bus route (in numerical order), followed by other service notices.

B6 B11
New Way to Transfer

Effective July 4, 1997
With MetroCard:

Westbound: Pay with MetroCard on the B6, transfer free to the B11, then transfer free again to any other connecting bus.
Eastbound: Pay with MetroCard on the B11, transfer free to the B6, then transfer free again to any other connecting bus.
Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

With coins or token:

Ask the bus operator on the second bus for a continuation transfer. Use it like a MetroCard to transfer twice if you ride the B6 or B11.

Expanded Rush Hour Service

Effective January 12, 1998
Weekday Service to Start Earlier and End Later

From E 80 St/Paerdegat 15 St to Eastern Parkway: First bus leaves East 80 St at 5:53 a.m.
From Eastern Parkway to E 80 St/Paerdegat 15 St: Last bus leaves Eastern Parkway at 9:03 p.m

B25
Westbound Buses Rerouted to Serve Water & Main Sts

Beginning Monday, January 12, 1998, 7 am to 7 pm on Weekdays
A new bus stop will be located on the corner of Water and Main Sts.
Westbound B25 buses will be rerouted along Front, Main and Water Sts to Fulton St, then continue their regular route to Furman St/Fulton Landing.
Evening and nighttime westbound service to Furnam St/Fulton Landing will not change.
Eastbound B25 service to East New York will not change.

B39
New Way to Transfer

Effective July 4, 1997

With MetroCard:

To Manhattan: Pay with MetroCard on any Brooklyn bus going to the Washington Plaza area. Use your card again to transfer free to the B39 and again on the M9, M14 or M15 for free.
To Brooklyn: Pay with MetroCard on the M9, M14 or M15 and transfer free to the B39 any and then again for free to another Brooklyn bus.
Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

With coins or token:

Ask the B39 bus operator for a continuation transfer. Use it like a MetroCard to transfer twice if you ride the B39.

B46
Free MetroCard Transfers Replace Return-trip Ticket

Effective July 4, 1997
Pay your bus fare with MetroCard and you can transfer free to any subway. On your way home, pay your subway fare with MetroCard and transfer free to any bus. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

Nighttime Service Extended

Effective Sunday, January 11, 1998
Monday through Friday: Last bus leaves Stillwell Av at 11 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Last bus leaves Stillwell Av at 9 p.m.

Free MetroCard Transfers Replace Discount Fare

Effective July 4, 1997
Pay your bus fare with MetroCard and you can transfer free to any subway. On your way home, pay your subway fare with MetroCard and transfer free to any bus. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

B75 and B77 Service Change

B75 and B77 Rerouted between 9 St/3 Av and Smith St

Effective until further notice
Due to the 9 St reconstruction project, B75 and B77 buses will run on 3 Av and Hamilton Av in both directions between 9 St/3 Av and Smith St. B75 and B77 buses will use B37 bus stops on 3 Av.

Bx1 Bx2

Effective October 30, 1997
Southbound buses no longer stop at Paul Av.
Southbound buses travel along Mosholu Pkwy on the main road instead of the service road, from Sedgwick Av to Paul Av. Northbound service will not change.

Bx3

Effective Sunday, January 18, 1998
Last stop will be at Wadsworth Av.

Bx9, Q44

West Farms Sq Reconstruction Project Advisory

Reconstruction of roadways may affect Bx9 and Q44 riders in the West Farms Square area. Bus stops may be temporarily relocated while reconstruction is being undertaken by the Department of Transportation.

You may also expect to encounter delays en route due to lane restrictions.

Bx11

Effective Sunday, January 18, 1998
Bus will turn south on Wadsworth Av instead of Broadway.

Bx12 Limited-Stop Hours Extended

Effective Monday, September 8, 1997

Limited-Stop service will run from 6:30 am to 7 pm on weekdays. When Bx12 limited-stop service is running to Broadway/207 St, Bx12 local service will terminate at Sedgwick Av. If you are on a Bx12 local bus and want to travel beyond Sedgwick Av, ask you driver for a continuation ticket to transfer free to a Bx12 limited-stop bus.

Effective Sunday, January 18, 1998
Service will be extended to George Washington Bridge bus terminal.

Bx22
Free MetroCard Transfers Replace Return-trip Ticket

Effective July 4, 1997
Pay your bus fare with MetroCard and you can transfer free to any subway. On your way home, pay your subway fare with MetroCard and transfer free to any bus. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

Bx29
New Way to Transfer

Effective July 4, 1997
With MetroCard:

From City Island: Pay with MetroCard and transfer free from the BX29 to the BX12. Transfer free again to any other bus.
To City Island: Pay with MetroCard and transfer free to the BX12. Transfer free again to the BX29.
Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

With coins or token:

Ask the BX12 bus operator for a continuation transfer. Use it like a MetroCard to make your two transfers.

Bx36

Effective Sunday, January 18, 1998
Bus will turn south on Wadsworth Av instead of Broadway.

Bx55
MetroCard Replaces Paper Transfer to Subway

Effective July 4, 1997
You will need MetroCard to transfer free between the Bx55 and the subway. If you use a token or coins to pay your fare, you will no longer get a free transfer between the Bx55 and the 2 or 5 train at 3 Av/149 St.
With MetroCard you can transfer free between any bus and subway station for 2 hours from when you pay your fare.

EXPRESS BUS CUSTOMERS
Use MetroCard for All Transfers

Effective July 4, 1997
You will need MetroCard to make express bus transfers.

Between express buses: No money will be deducted from your MetroCard on the second express bus or any other bus or subway.
Between a local bus or subway and an express: The $2.50 additional fare will be deducted automatically from your MetroCard. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

M18 Route Change

Effective Sunday, September 7, 1997

M18 buses run on W 116 St between Manhattan Av and Malcolm X Blvd, then travel on Malcolm X Blvd to 110 St. All buses terminate at 5 Av and 110 St.
M18 service on Convent Av has not changed.

M100 Route Extended

Effective September 7, 1997
M100 service is extended to 220 St and Broadway to serve the Allen Pavilion Hospital, and to 2 Av and 125 St for easy connection to the downtown M15 at 126 St.

QUEENS PARSONS/ARCHER BUSES
Free MetroCard Transfers Replace Return-trip Ticket

Effective July 4, 1997
Pay your bus fare with MetroCard and you can transfer free to any subway. On your way home, pay your subway fare with MetroCard and transfer free to any bus. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

Q17, Q30, Q31
New Way to Transfer to Hillside Av, Merrick Blvd, Liberty Av Buses

Effective July 4, 1997
With MetroCard:

To Jamaica from southeast Queens: Pay with MetroCard on the Q5, Q42, Q83, Q84 or Q85. Transfer free to the Q17, Q30 or Q31 and transfer free again to the Q1, Q2, Q3, Q36, Q43 or Q75.
To Jamaica from eastern Queens: Pay with MetroCard on the Q1, Q2, Q3, Q36, Q43 or Q75. Transfer free to the Q17, Q30 or Q31 and transfer free again to the Q5, Q42, Q83, Q84 or Q85. .
Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

With coins or token:

Ask the bus operator for a continuation transfer. Use it like MetroCard to make your two transfers.

Q24 - Terminal Moved to Archer Av

Effective Sunday, January 25, 1998
because of heavy traffic on 168 St, the eastern termInal of the Q24 will be nove to Archer Av bnetween Merrick Blvd and 168 St.
The Q24 will continue to pick up customers at the old terminal on 168 St between Archer and Jamaica Avs. Northbound Q30 and Q31 buses will also use this stop.

Q43 Limited - Bus Stop Change

Effective Monday, November 17, 1997

The westbound Q43 Limited will stop at Hillside Av and 187 St. It will no longer stop at Hillside Av at 188 St. The latter will be a local stop only. This relocation will better serve Q17 and Q75 transfer customers.

Q44 Route Change from Jamaica to Archer Avs

Effective Sunday, January 11, 1998

Buses will run on Archer Av between Sutphin and Merrick Blvds in both directions.

Q46 Limited - Bus Stop Added

Effective Monday, November 17, 1997

For your convenience, an extra "limited" bus stop will be added at Union Turnpike at 150 St.

Q58 Direct Service to John Bowne High School

From approximately 7 am to 8:15 am, Q58 buses marked "Reeves Av" will run from Ridgewood, Maspeth and Corona to John Bowne High School.

Q79 Customers:

If you must take two buses to get to or from the subway, you are entitled to two free transfers.

Bus to subway:
Use your MetroCard Gold on the Q79 and ask the driver for a magnetic-stripe transfer to your second bus. Save your MetroCard Gold free transfer to enter the subway.
Subway to bus:
Swipe your MetroCard Gold at the subway and use your free transfer to board first bus. Ask the driver for a free magnetic-stripe transfer to the Q79 as you get off.

Transfers are good for two hours from the time you pay your fare.

S40
Service extended to Howland Hook Container Terminal

Effective Monday, January 12, 1998
Service to the Howland Hook container terminal will operate from 5:30 a.m. to 12 midnight. At other times the S40 will terminate at Goethals Rd North and the Goethals Homes.

S52

No service on Olympia Blvd

Effective Monday, November 17, 1997, until further notice, due to extensive road work on Olympia Blvd the S52 has been temporarily rerouted.
Buses will run on Sand Lane, Lamport Blvd and Foch Av, between Arthur Kill Road and Wilder Av.

The S52 will make the following new stops:

To make sure that you are traveling in the right direction, check the destination sign before boarding bus.

S54/S74, S76, X15

Richmond Road Improvement Project

Beginning March 24, 1997, weekdays only, 7 am to 5 pm until further notice
Southbound buses run on North Railroad Av from Delaware St to Seaview Av.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this road improvement project.

S60 LOOP SERVICE
New Way to Pay on the Loop

Effective July 4, 1997
With MetroCard:

From Todt Hill: Pay with MetroCard on the S60 and transfer free at Victory Blvd/Clove Rd to any local bus. You may transfer again free to any local bus on Staten Island.
To Todt Hill: Pay with MetroCard on any local bus on Staten Island. Transfer free to any bus going to Victory Blvd/Clove Rd. Transfer again free to the S60.
Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

With coins or token:

Ask the bus operator on the second bus for a continuation transfer. Use it like a MetroCard to make your two transfers.

If you must take two buses plus the ferry to get to or from Manhattan subways, you are entitled to two free transfers.

Bus to Subway:
Use your MetroCard Gold on the S60 and ask the driver for a magnetic-stripe transfer to your second bus. Ride the ferry free and use your MetroCard Gold free transfer to enter the subway in lower Manhattan.
Subway to Bus:
Swipe your MetroCard Gold at the subway and use your free transfer to board your Staten Island bus. Ask the driver for a free magnetic-stripe transfer to the S60 as you get off.

X10
Early-Morning Service Added on Saturdays

Effective Saturday, January 17, 1998
The first bus from Castleton and Jewett Avs to Manhattan leaves at 6:30 a.m. Hourly service from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. continues as usual.

X17 X31

Effective July 4, 1997
Use MetroCard to transfer free from the X17 or X31 to the subway or buses in Manhattan. If you use a token or coins to pay your express bus fare, you will no longer get a free transfer form the X17 or X31 top the subway or buses in Manhattan. With MetroCard you can transfer free between any bus and any subway. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

Late Night Bus Customers

Request-A-Stop 10:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. city-wide

Request-A-Stop service is now available in all of Manhattan, including between 14 St and 86th St.
For your convenience and safety, Request-A-Stop bus service will now be available in all five boroughs from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., 7 days a week.
To be let off the bus at locations along the route that are not designated bus stops, simply inform the bus operator that you would like to get off at a particular corner. As long as the bus driver considers the requested stop safe, you can be let off the bus. Otherwise, the bus operator will let you off at the closest safe corner.
Of course, the bus will continue to make all regularly scheduled stops.

LATE NIGHT 3 SHUTTLE BUS CUSTOMERS

Effective July 4, 1997
If you ride the late night shuttle bus, M7 or M102 to the subway at 135 St, ask the bus operator for a magnetic-strip bus transfer to enter the station. Save the free transfer on your MetroCard to transfer to another bus at your destination station. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare.

LIMITED-STOP CUSTOMERS
Transfer Free between Limited-Stop and Local Buses

Effective July 4, 1997
You can use your free MetroCard transfer to change between local and limited-stop buses going in the same direction. Transfers are good for 2 hours from the time you pay your fare. This free transfer is also available to customers who pay with coins or tokens.

Bus Maps

Bus maps are available free at subway token booths, NYCT information centers, or by writing to NYCT Customer Assistance, 370 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201. Most branch libraries throughout the city also receive copies of their borough bus maps for for public distribution.
