Lee reached the semi-finals for the first time

Stephen Lee sealed a convincing 13-7 win over Marco Fu to reach the semi-finals for the first time.

The world number seven always had the upper hand on his resilient opponent thanks to his quality long potting.

The damage was done in the second session where Lee won five successive frames to move 9-4 clear.

Although Fu refused to give up, it was too much of a deficit to claw back and Lee held on to set up a semi-final against 2000 champion Mark Williams.

Lee insisted he did not feel under pressure after reaching his first Crucible semi-final.

"I concentrated on knocking up a good lead, and settled myself down and kept all the pressure on Marco," he said.

"I take each game as it comes, you can't put pressure on yourself. In between sessions I just chilled out.

"The frame I won from 72-0 down to go 10-5 ahead was a big one. If it had been me who had lost from that position I would have jumped out of the window."

Fu admitted his disappointment after his best-ever Crucible run came to an end - he had not won a game in Sheffield before this year.

But the Hong Kong star insisted he was a better player for the experience.

"I was just not into it today," he admitted. "I had a bad first session, there were a few frames I should have won, and you can't do that against a player like Stephen.

"But it's been a good experience for me. I have beaten Ronnie O'Sullivan and Alan McManus. It's hard to win this -even tremendous players find it tough."
