Sheffield's Electoral Ward Boundaries
Ward boundaries
The Electoral Commission announced the new electoral ward boundaries for Sheffield in January 2004. This marks the end of the review of Sheffield's electoral ward boundaries which began on 8 May 2002. The review aimed to make sure, where possible, that every city councillor represents the same number of residents. This will ensure that everyone's vote carries the same weight in local elections.

The Electoral Commission decided to reduce the number of seats on the Council from 87 to 84. This means that there will be 28 wards, one fewer than before. The majority of ward boundaries in Sheffield will change with some having completely new names.

The new wards came into effect in June 2004, when elections were held for every seat in each of the new wards.

By clicking on the links on the left you can access maps showing the new ward boundaries and how they compare to the old ones.

A copy of the Order made by the Electoral Commission can be viewed at  Her Majesty's Stationery Office.

The current boundaries of the electoral wards and divisions can be viewed at    Ordnance Survey's website and these will be updated when the new boundaries come into force at the next local government election.
