Canterbury Film Society is a non-profit incorporated society that aims to screen interesting films (foreign films in particular) which would not otherwise be seen in Christchurch. The Society is operated by a core committee of dedicated volunteers and whatever outside help we can muster.
The Canterbury Film Society's 2006 programme has begun again, with a range of acclaimed and culturally significant films on offer on the big screen. This year's programme of films includes a series of New York stories, three films by French New Wave director Jean-Luc Godard, two by Luis Bunuel, documentaries by the Maysles Brothers, a special selection of New Zealand Films, two classic French thrillers, three films exploring German domestic terrorism, a study of legendary footballer George Best and many more. All this cinema for less than $4 a night.
