PPC (Petits Propos Culinaires) This is a journal of food studies and food history that has appeared three times a year for the past twenty-one years. It was founded by Alan Davidson, author of the Oxford Companion to Food, and has passed from his hands into those of Prospect Books in Devon. Issues from number 64 will be published and edited from here. The journal is A5 format and normally contains 64 or 80 pages. There are articles, notes and queries from readers, and reviews of books published in the field. Back numbers of the journal are available from here (most are in stock, but not 2, 3, 9, 10, 12, 48 and 60, see below) . Their individual price is £5 per issue, post free. (However, you may deduct 5% is ordering 5 or more back numbers at the same time; 10% for 10 or more; 15% for 15 or more; 20% for 20 or more; and 25% for 25 or more.) If you go to http://members.tripod.com/rdeh, you will find a consolidated index to numbers 1–55 as well as other information about the journal. We will supply a CD with a PDF of PPC 2, 3, 9, 10, 12, 48 or 60 to anyone asking for one. Your letter should state which issue, and be accompanied by a cheque for GBP5.00 made payable to Prospect Books, or if in America, for USD9.50, made payable to PPC NA, or if in the Euro zone with a 10 euro note, folded discreetly between two sheets of paper. Note that the quality of the PDF is not quite as good as the original printing since it is the result of a scan, but the information is as good as ever. |
