Feb. 14--WARWICK -- How to get past the snow, the cold and the icy winds of New England? Why not think about the lush landscape of the Azores?

Government and tourism officials are promoting Portugal's Azores island group as a warm-weather destination for winter-weary New Englanders.

At a news conference at T.F. Green Airport yesterday, the officials kicked off "Discover the Azores," a campaign to encourage travel between Rhode Island and the islands.
