In the previous fiscal year, the Shift of Capital from Tokyo Committee deliberated and formulated a general framework for the transfer of capital government functions away from Tokyo. The framework called for the dispersal of ministry offices and the separation of politics and economy without adding to the public burden. In this fiscal year, the committee’s major activity will be to increase public awareness concerning the proposed framework.
