Has the GGBP been a success?
20 bulls have now gained Production proofs in the UK since the launch of the Guernsey Global Breeding Plan (GGBP) in 2001.Comparisons between the Parent Averages on which they were selected and their "proofs" based on their daughters performance suggests that the results are better than expected.

Changes to PLI
The calculation of PLI has been changed at the August proof run. Marco Winters of MDC has produced an explanation of the changes. The main change is to put less emphasis on production and more on health and fertility traits.

New Bull Proofs Aug 07
The August Bull Proofs were released by MDC yesterday and three more of the Guernsey Global Breeding Plan (GGBP) bulls gained a first proof.
The star graduate is Tiresford Pedro with a GMI of +378.
There are now 19 bulls used in GGBP with proofs and they average +232 GMI.

RAYWA herd dispersal 18/7/07
Ray Watson and Nick Phippen dispersed their RAYWA herd at Bristol on Wednesday with a very good trade for all ages of stock.The full siters by Myrtles Telestar and from the Xandina family were both bought by Colin Gleed and Walter Forrest with Lot 46 topping the sale at 2000gns.

The Royal Show 2007
Morris Grose judged the Guernsey classes at the rain affected RASE show and the fourth day was cancelled because of the state of the Car parks for the first time ever.
Sir Howard Guinness produced the Champion White Ladies Ruby 91 which is his 7th Champion a post war record.

Ruby 91 Ahead of the rest.
Hazel Morrison is a talented photographer and has ambitions to establish a Guernsey herd at some point in the future. She attends the shows at Stoneleigh and in return for "Cake and Coffee" produces some outstanding if sometimes unusual pictures including all of these.

Guernseys in the South East of England
Rebecca with Hinxden Flatter 4
The show season is also under way in the South East of England. I understand that Rebecca Manford was placed as Champion at the Heathfield Show on the Saturday of the Spring Bank Holiday and that Nicola Dean's Hampton Lily won her Class in the AOB section of the South of England. Thanks to both young ladies for flying the Guernsey flag.
