DELL, s.r.o. is a subsidiary company of the US corporation DELL Inc., a world leader in information technology. It has operated in Slovakia since January 2003. Having established itself and successfully performed as a Call Center, DELL Bratislava is currently undergoing an important transformation into a Business Center. Its main task will be providing a broad range of services for Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), in areas such as financial management, marketing, and technical support. In fact, Bratislava is fast becoming the finance headquarter for DELL EMEA. Its function as a Call Center for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will of course continue to be expanded.

Transformation from a call center into a business center

There are several reasons why DELL decided to expand activities in Bratislava, including excellent results achieved by the team in Bratislava during the first three years of operation and the large potential in the area of human resources. Since the launch of operations of DELL s.r.o. in Slovakia the number of employees increased to over 1400 – an exceptional growth proving that DELL Bratislava has been able to find highly qualified staff in this country. DELL employs specialists in the areas of sales, finance, marketing, customer care, human resources and technology; college graduates are among the highly sought-after candidates. AnneHarm Barkema, DELL EMEA Vice President for Human Resources, said about the perspective of the site’s future growth, “I am extremely happy with Bratislava. The transformation to a Business Center is a big challenge for this team.”

Opportunities for joining the DELL team

The growth of the Business Center will bring many varied opportunities for new candidates. Until the end of this year (2006), DELL intends to create additional jobs in Bratislava in the areas of sales, finance, marketing and technical support. DELL, s.r.o. offers jobs to candidates who are fluent in foreign languages, with the emphasis on English and German. Candidates are expected to be willing to face new challenges and be focused on customer needs. Being “fit for DELL” entails commitment and enthusiasm for new assignments and work in a young and dynamic team. How to become a DELL expert

The process of education begins immediately after joining the company. The first trainings attended by employees are profile trainings whose aim is to provide appropriate introductions to all assigned roles that will be their future responsibility. At DELL learning and development of all employees has the highest priority. Latest educational methods are employed in a broad range of specialized courses. Thanks to a progressive e-learning employees attend compulsory as well as additional trainings by making use of their PCs during the working hours, or they may access the courses from the comfort of their homes. DELL considers its investment in education to be an investment for its own future.

Winning Culture – a way to motivate employees

Winning Culture is a motivational program for employees. Several times a year, DELL s.r.o. organizes cultural and social events such as the Summer Party and the Christmas Event. In cooperation with various partners, it provides numerous forms of recreational and relaxation activities, among them health weeks, company sports days, and the highly popular movie months. Many additional activities included in the Winning Culture program help create and reinforce DELL’s corporate philosophy titled The Soul of Dell.
