Permanent mission of Caucasian Institute for Democracy Foundation opened in Tskhinvali

On December 9, in Tskhinvali a permanent mission of the Caucasian Institute for Democracy Foundation has been opened. As a REGNUM correspondent informs, South Ossetian government and social organizations officials, as well as press participated in the presentation. The permanent mission will be headed by Igor Pliyev.

Yelena Tutorskaya, Director of the foundation development programs, said that the fund is a Russian non-profit organization striving to “support South Ossetians, their culture, education and social demands.” According to Tutorskaya, special attention is drawn towards the development of culture and education, as well as youth and children programs. “We must support studying of the Russian language, literature and the Russian culture as a whole. These are the priorities. We want to give the go-ahead for Ossetian talents,” said Tutorskaya and invited everybody to help them.

Speaking about the financing of the projects, Tutorskaya noted that there are no strict frames. “The sources of financing may be various. We will use not only our own resources. We will seek for sponsor grants,” she said. She added that they plan to open a branch of the foundation in Abkhazia.

Answering the REGNUM correspondent‘s question, whether the political situation in the region can harm the actions of the opening and functioning of the foundation, Tutorskaya said that it is very important to support the citizens of South Ossetia in times of troubles. “Georgians and Ossetians may both address the foundation, and we will help them,” concluded Tutorskaya.
