The skinny
The Senators made an unexpected run to the Stanley Cup Finals last season as the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. The nine home playoff games helped the franchise turn its biggest profit in team history on record revenues. The Sens have been the NHL's best when it comes to wins versus player costs during the 2000s. Owner Eugene Melnyk reached a settlement this year on trading violations of the stock of the drugmaker he founded, Biovail. Melnyk may not act as a director of Biovail for one year as part of the settlement.
