A new home for Ira Ross Eye Institute
Ophthalmology Times

Buffalo, NY—The University of Buffalo's (UB) Ira G. Ross Eye Institute's new home, which is a collaboration of the department of ophthalmology in UB's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the Elizabeth Pierce Olmsted, MD, Center for the Visually Impaired and University Ophthalmology Services opened at 1176 Main Street.

As an important part of the university's major initiative to create a more apparent presence in downtown Buffalo, the institute is located on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.

Diagnosis and treatment of adults and children with diseases of the eye and vision system takes place at the institute. The research component takes place on UB's south campus; patient care and training of physicians takes place at 1176 Main Street. The adjacent Olmsted Center provides vision services, rehabilitation, job training, and social services for those with visual disability.

The unique aspect about this institute is that it can meet the needs of the visually impaired "from cradle to grave" at one location.
