Description
Architect: Costas Kondylis & Partners
- Tallest residential building in the world from 2000 to March 2003 and occupies a 44.2m x 23.8m footprint which also makes it one of the slenderest buildings in the world. The rooftop also houses a 600-ton Tuned Mass Damper (TMD).
- The sleek black oblisk was originally designed with a slightly gold-tinted facade and was the first building to break the gentleman's agreement of not building taller than the UN Secretariat in close proximity.
- It is also the tallest new building built in NYC since the Citigroup Center in 1977.
