SENSE TRIBUNAL / SENSE
SENSE – TRIBUNAL is a specialized project of SENSE News Agency based in International War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague. The focus of this project is regular, balanced and comprehensive coverage of the work of the ICTY, and the activities of ICJ (International Court of Justice) and ICC (International Criminal Court).

Since 1998 SENSE is continuously producing daily news reports and a weekly television program entitled The Tribunal for TV networks in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia & Montenegro and FYROM.

In addition to daily reports and weekly TV programs SENSE has so far produced six documentary films: Triumph of Evil, about the Srebrenica genocide trial (2001), Against All Odds, chronicalling the first ten years of the ICTY (2003), Beyond Reasonable Doubt, an examination of the Srebrenica massacre 10 years later (2005) and three documentaries detailing the case against Dr. Radovan Karadzic and General Ratko Mladic - The Fugitives (2004), Life and Deeds of Radovan Karadzic (2005) and Rise and Fall of General Mladic (2005).

Since the begining of the trial in February 2002 SENSE has been archiving video tapes of the Slobodan Milosevic trial in DVCAM format. This archive is available to local and international media, NGOs, researchers, academics and other interested individuals and organizations.

Apart from the Milosevic trial SENSE has created an extensive archive of highlights from 20 other trials at the ICTY often used by media and production companies in the Western Balkans as well as for worldwide dissemination.

For 5 years now, in co-operation with the Open Society Institute, SENSE is hosting an Internship program for journalists from the Western Balkans. This residence program enables them to come to The Hague and spend three months working with the SENSE team covering trials and other relevant events in the ICTY. Their tasks include writing news reports and producing television pieces. They return to their respective countries with substantial knowledge of the work and mission of the Tribunal along with improved production and writing skills.

Since it’s inception, SENSE TRIBUNAL project has been supported by the European Commission, Governments of The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Germany, and the Open Society Institute.
