Discharge of Firearms

"The possession, storage or use of any kind of ammunition, firearms, fireworks, explosives, air rifles and air pistols on University-owned or operated property, without the expressed written permission of the University police, is prohibited" (Undergraduate Record, 2001).

Geographical Jurisdiction

"Most of the University of Virginia is in Albemarle County, but some is in the City of Charlottesville. People on University property are subject to the laws & ordinances of the relevant political jurisdiction (local, state and federal), as well as University regulations that might apply in particular situations" (electronic mail, Louise Dudley, June 19, 2001).
