Remembering Vimy – Lloyd Robertson To Host Live Network Special, April 9 on CTV

-- CTV Delivers Complete Coverage of the Ceremony Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge --

Toronto, ON (April 4, 2007) – As Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Stephen Harper join the tens of thousands of people gathering in France to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, CTV will deliver live and complete coverage of the historic ceremony. The network announced today the details of their Vimy coverage which features Remembering Vimy – a live CTV News special anchored by Lloyd Robertson airing Monday, April 9 beginning at 10 a.m. ET/7 a.m. PT on CTV, CTV Newsnet and The CTV Broadband Network.

Chief Anchor and Senior Editor, Lloyd Robertson, will lead CTV’s coverage of the ceremony, which includes the dedication of the newly restored Canadian National Vimy Memorial and live addresses from the Queen and the Prime Minister. Hundreds of Canadian school children will also be in France for the ceremony. Veteran CTV journalists Tom Kennedy and David Akin will report live from France and Jane Urquhart, the celebrated author of The Stonecarvers, will join Lloyd Robertson to share her unique insights and expertise on the Battle of Vimy Ridge.

“Vimy is one of those moments in history that defined Canada as a nation, and 90 years later it has not lost any of its significance,” says Robertson. “As Canadians, young and old, pay tribute to Vimy on this momentous anniversary, CTV will be with them every step of the way.”

In addition to streaming Remembering Vimy live on The CTV Broadband Network at 10 a.m. ET, CTV.ca will also feature a special micro-site dedicated to Vimy and the accomplishments of Canadians in the First World War along with an interactive map recreating the battle scenes. Full coverage of Vimy celebrations will be featured on Canada’s #1 newscast CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson at 11 p.m. and on CTV’s local evening newscasts (check CTV.ca for broadcast times).
