Fantastic Fest Premieres Zombie Girl

News on the line-up of the 2008 Fantastic Fest, Austin's newest addition to its already insanely rich festival scene, has been leaking out in stages. Today's announcement includes mention of the world premiere of ZOMBIE GIRL from directors Aaron Marshall, Erik Mauck and Justin Johnson. The documentary was a TFPF recipient in 2005, and it follows budding filmmaker Emily Hagins, then all of 12 years old, on her two-year adventure to make a feature-length zombie film called PATHOGEN, which itself received a TFPF grant in 2005.

Emily completed PATHOGEN and presented it to a sold-out crowd at the Alamo Drafthouse a couple years ago. She's continued on with her filmmaking career, embarking on yet another feature film this year, tentatively titled THE RETELLING. Judging by the synopsis, she's staying true to her spooky roots. Awesome!
