General information

The Hasinai Society is an organization that works to preserve traditional Caddo culture and pass these traditions on to future generations.

We do this through weekly classes that emphasize instruction by tribal elders and community members and learning through practice. Emphasis is placed on learning traditional music and dance and language revitalization. We also sponsor a week-long summer camp each June to provide children with an intensive learning experience in a fun environment.

The Hasinai Society travels all over the state of Oklahoma to participate in dances, and in the past several years danced with the Delaware, Yuchi, Creek, Absentee Shawnee, Kiowa, Comanche, Cheyenne and Arapaho, and Wichita tribes. The Hasinai Society also performs exhibition dances here in Oklahoma, as well as in Louisiana, Arkansas, and Texas.

Financial information

The Hasinai Society is funded entirely by donations and fund raising efforts undertaken by its members. We are recognized by the Caddo Nation as a tribally designated non-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Service's IRC Section 7871.

You can help us out in many different ways. In particular, we are in need on supplies for our summer camp and arts and craft classes; please contact us to see how you can contribute materials or funding for our efforts to preserve Caddo culture.

We also received project-specific grant support from the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
