Officer Selection

Assessment and selection of all Regular, Territorial Army (TA) and Professionally Qualified Officers (PQOs)

Welcome to the Army Officer Selection Board (AOSB) Home Page.  AOSB is based at Westbury in Wiltshire and has been selecting Army Officers since 1949.  It is now the established home for the assessment and selection of all Regular, Territorial Army (TA) and Professionally Qualified Officers (PQOs) (i.e. Chaplains, Lawyers and Medical Staff).

The AOSB Mission is:

To select Potential Officers for training and education to command soldiers in peace and operations and for specialist functions within the Army.

All candidates aspiring to serve as Commissioned Officers in the British Army must attend one of the selection Main Boards, usually having attended a Briefing period beforehand.

AOSB conducts 8 discrete types of boards for selecting Potential Officers for commission in the British Army.  As a first step to reviewing your options and considering by which route you wish to enter the Army please watch the videos and select the appropriate links to the right.
