NEW YORK -- The Yankees will both open and close the 2010 Major League season with one of the game's classic rivalries, meeting the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on both April 5 and Oct. 3.Between the bookend showdowns, the 162-game schedule for next season -- released on Tuesday by Major League Baseball -- presents numerous challenges and intriguing matchups as the Yankees look to follow up on a successful first season at the new Yankee Stadium.
Beginning with the home opener on April 13 against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, New York opens its second home schedule at the Bronx cathedral with a six-game homestand that also welcomes the Texas Rangers to town.
In addition to the usual home slate of American League rivals, including numerous appearances from AL East opponents, Interleague Play will bring three National League clubs to Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees will host the Houston Astros (June 11-13) and Philadelphia Phillies (June 15-17) before engaging the New York Mets in the annual home reprise of the Subway Series (June 18-20), following up on the May 21-23 matchups across town at Citi Field.
As Interleague Play continues in NL ballparks, the Yankees will then head to the desert to renew acquaintances with the D-backs (June 21-23) in a rematch of the 2001 World Series.

Then, it will be off to the West Coast for more trips down memory lane, engaging Joe Torre and his Los Angeles Dodgers for what should prove to be an emotional and memorable three-game series at Chavez Ravine from June 25-27.
The Yankees will be spending a fair amount of time traveling to the West Coast, though they only have one series scheduled in Anaheim against the Angels (April 23-25).
There are two trips to play the Oakland Athletics (April 20-22; June 5-7) and one four-game series against the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field (July 8-11). New York twice travels to play the Texas Rangers (Aug. 10-11 and Sept. 10-12).
Other key dates to note include May 25-27, when the Yankees make their first visit to the new outdoor Minnesota Twins home stadium, Target Field, and a home afternoon game on the Fourth of July against the Toronto Blue Jays.
With a May 17-18 two-game series and a Aug. 6-9 four-game series also on the Yankee Stadium docket against the Red Sox, the Yankees complete their 81-game home slate in the Bronx with a send-off against Boston on Sept. 24-26.
They will then make the last of their three trips to Fenway Park to wrap up the regular season from Oct. 1-3.
