- There is over 43 million square feet of office space in Downtown Houston
- Downtown residents, workers and visitors enjoy access to approximately 300 restaurants and 2.45 million square feet of retail shops
- Downtown Houston has the second largest underground tunnel system that is 6.3 miles long, having started out years ago as a tunnel between two downtown movie theaters. Today it includes restaurants, services and shops between connecting buildings
- Downtown is home to 15 hotels totaling over 5,000 rooms and suites
- Currently there are 3,068 residential units in Downtown accommodating more than 4,000 people
- Downtown Houston's Theater District is one of five in the United States with permanent, professional resident companies in all of the major performing art disciplines: opera, ballet, symphony and theater
- With 13,000 theater seats, the Theater District ranks second behind New York City for the number of theater seats in a concentrated downtown area

Since 1999, the Downtown overall crime statistics have increased less than 1%. This slight increase can be directly attributed to increased activities in Downtown including events at Minute Main Park, Toyota Center as well as a dramatic increase in the number of nightclubs, restaurants and bars. The Houston Police Department's Special Operations Division, located at 1900 Rusk, focuses specifically on Downtown safety issues
