Big Bang member Tae-yang, who just resumed his solo career, has ranked in the top three of the Dutch music chart. His new release, “Wedding Dress,” was climbed to third place, following Timberland and RO, in the Fun X Radio X-tips Chart of the Dutch music radio station Fun X. This chart ranking is based on the number of the hits on the song and its music video and an online poll. Tae-yang’s new song was first placed in ninth place last week, but has jumped six more notches to finish this week in third place.
This is not the first time that Tae-yang’s music has been recognized in Europe. He had previously gained attention in Hungary, too. In a Hungarian show similar to “American Idols” a team named Bad Boys performed to Tae-yang’s songs “Prayer” and “Where You At” and enjoyed quite a number of hits on YouTube with the performance footage.
Tae-yang’s achievement in Europe is particularly encouraging, because there was no special publicity campaign to advertise the song and the interest occurred in Europe, not in Japan, China or Southeast Asia where Korean pop stars are hot. |
