Byram Hills boys win a state title

November
18

Ladies and gentlemen…Will Ogden!!

Byram’s superman struck again, scoring in the 18th minute to lead the Bobcats over Section 2’s Burnt Hills 1-0 in the battle of the Hills. Eric Lebowitz tells me it was also coach Matt Allen’s 100th win. State championship—not a bad place to get it.

Eric is driving back from Oneonta now but when he gets back he’ll have much more on this game. In the meantime, congrats to the Bobcats on joining Briarcliff’s girls soccer, Rye’s field hockey, and Hen Hud and Haldane volleyball as state champions.

Congratulations to Byram Hills on their state championship. Head Coach Matt Allen and his players showed true class all season. Too bad the same can’t be said about the Bobcats’ supporters. For the second straight year, the Byram Hills fans distiguished themselves as the rudest and most obnoxious fans at Oneonta. I guess they feel that living in a wealthy community gives them the license to say and do whatever they please. What a disgrace and embarrassment for Section One.

  8. um...

wait why are you bashing the fans? they are supportive and when 300 of them drive 3.5 hours two days in a row i dont think you should call them obnoxious. seriously, the ref gave 3 yellow cards to the byram players, 2 of them prob unnecessary.

i think you should just suck it up because your team just didn’t win states.

Living in a wealthy community? That has nothing to do with how fans carry themselves on the sidelines. They are a very enthusiastic group and were happy to see their team take home probably one of the greastest achievements Byram Hills has ever witnessed.

a raucous fan support is better than no fan support at all

great weekend, great games , the best outcome.
it was the boys on the field all by themselves.
as far as their support in the stands…they were great.

I am truthfully sick of hearing about all of these people bashing the Byram fan contingent. If any other school’s student body cared about their soccer program as much as the students of Byram Hills do, they might have the same support. Along with this support comes the arrogance of the high school fans. I dont care what school you are from, if there are 300+ high schoolers who want their team to win, there are bound to be a few classless fans. Bottom line. Congratulations to Byram Boys Soccer on their state title victory. You deserve it and will be remembered for your great play.

At least they didnt diss their opponents in the news after the game like the Greeley Girls lol

I guess that’s why one team WON and the other didn’t

  14. BH ROLLIN IN

Congrats to Byram Hills! And their fans are awesome, with me as one of them. We are proud, so shut up.

I think people should stop bashing the fans of Byram Hills. They are just proud of there team for and the referee of the sectional game for there accomplishments. They have great fans and I wish my school had that many fans for soccer that were as loyal as they are.

Jeff didn't improve much and all of the others did. He only scored two goals as a varsity player, and one time, he was called Josh, so only one goal was official.
