Posteriorly, review the vomer bone, the perpendicular plate of the ethmoid bone, and the septal cartilage. Note the hard palate, the soft palate, and nares. Remove the septum on one side of the head to expose the lateral nasal wall. In the lateral wall, note the cribiform plate of the ethmoid bone, the nares, the vestibule, the nasal cavity, and pharyngeal recess, superior, middle, and inferior nasal conchae, the sphenoethmoid recess, superior meatus, middle meatus, and inferior meatus, which reside just inferior to their corresponding conchae, pituitary gland, just superior to the sphenoid sinus.
