Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, Milwaukee is a jewel of the Great Lakes perhaps best known for its famed breweries, but there's much more to this diverse and vibrant city. Milwaukee is rich in historical and cultural attractions, making it the perfect place for a weekend of exploring. Those interested in the city's history can visit the former home of one of Milwaukee's beer barons, the grand 1892 Pabst Mansion, known for its resplendent interiors, elegant furnishings, intricate ironwork and rare art collection, or the Milwaukee Public Museum, for a glimpse of life in Old Milwaukee.

A city rich in historical and architectural heritage, visitors will want to take advantage of strolling through the revitalized historic neighborhoods of the Historic Third Ward, Old World Third Street, Brady Street, Walkers Point, and Lincoln Village—a National Trust Main Street Community—or stay in either of Milwaukee's two Historic Hotels of America: Hotel Metro or The Pfister. A tropical rainforest and an arid desert await at the Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory, or "The Domes," a trio of massive, beehive-shaped glass domes soaring 140 feet above the cityscape. Other popular attractions include the Milwaukee Art Museum, the world renowned Milwaukee County Zoo, and Summerfest, a musical celebration along Milwaukee’s lakefront that attracts a million visitors per year.
Of course a trip to Milwaukee would not be complete without a tour of the Miller Brewing Company and the historic caves where Frederick J. Miller cooled his brew back in 1855. And a Brewers game at Miller Park, which features the only fan-shaped convertible roof in North America, is not to be missed.
