Comedy Central yanks 'The Daily Show' and 'The Colbert Report' off Hulu

It’s curtains on Hulu for two of the Web site's most popular programs, Comedy Central's "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report."
The site, which streams television, film and original programming, announced Tuesday that it will no longer offer programs by the Viacom-owned Comedy Central beginning March 10.
Both "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" have been some of Hulu's most watched shows since the site began streaming them in June 2008.
"In the past 21 months, we've had very strong results for both Hulu and Comedy Central, in terms of the views and revenue we’ve generated," senior vice president of content and distribution Andy Forssell wrote on Hulu’s Web site. "After a series of discussions with the team at Comedy Central, though, we ultimately were unable to secure the rights to extend these shows for a much longer period of time."
Forssell went on to say that while the shows are being taken off Hulu “for now,” the site remains on good terms with Comedy Central.
Comedy Central also issued a statement saying, "We had a great experience with Hulu, and we hope to work with its team again in the future."
Hulu streamed more than 1 billion videos in December 2009, behind only YouTube, according to a ComScore statement.
"The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report" were the first late-night talk shows to stream full episodes online. They will still be available on their individual Web sites through Comedy Central.
