    Final (Best of 19 frames)

    Ding Junhui 10-8 John Higgins
    1st Session: 93(81)-11, (43)43-75(67), 101(69)-27, 32-77(67), 78(63)-4, 51-62, 65(44)-49(45), 0-96(80)
    2nd Session: 58-22, 21-67, 78(50)-12, 12-99(91), 5-68(42), 75(74)-5, 64-58, 62-49, 18-115(115), 84(75)-36

Frame 18: Higgins had the first chance but he's missed a red on 27 and left the chance for Ding. He makes 75 to leave Higgins needing snookers. He's got the first one he needed and a free ball. There's a bit more drama to come yet as the clock ticks past midnight. Higgins is 44 behind with one red left. Ding gets the red  and he's the 2009 UKChampion. He wins the title for the second time. It's his fourthranking title, which takes him past James Wattana as the leading playerfrom Asia.

Frame 17: When the going gets tough... John Higgins produces a championship saving break. It started with a fantastic long red and finished with a century.

Frame 16: Higgins has opened a 49 point lead, but he's missed a red and there's plenty of points still for Ding to get back into the frame. The lead is whittled down to 7 points and they're on the yellow. A brilliant by Ding and he's snatched the frame.

Frame 15: The frame is in the balance on the last red. Higgins leads 46-34. Higgins flukes the red out of a snooker but he's missed an easy brown and left it on. Ding clears up and wins a frame that should have gone to Higgins. Could that be the turning point

Frame 14: There's still nothing between them. It's Ding's turn to draw level with a frame winning contribution.

Frame 13: Here we go again, it's the run to the line now. For the first time in the match, Higgins takes the lead.

Frame 12: As we go to the final interval it's still level. An immaculate break by John Higgins.

Frame 11: DIng retakes the lead yet again. This time it was a safety error by Higgins that let Ding in to clear up.

Frame 10: A miscue by Ding and two small scoring visits are enough for Higgins to draw level. Five times in the match Ding has gone ahead and five times John have levelled. If Higgins is to win the title, he'll have to change that sequence.

Frame 9: Ding wins a scrappy frame where both players had and missed chances. Higgins was unlucky to knock a red in off the blue when splitting the pack, but ultimately the frame came down to a good red into a centre pocket by Ding.

Frame 8: This is the last frame of the afternoon session and a key frame. Can Ding open a two frame advantage, or will Higgins make it all square ahead of tonight? It is all square, a great break by John Higgins sets it all up for some drama tonight.

Frame 7: Another frame were the balls have gone awkward. This time it's Ding who snatches it, on the final pink.

Frame 6: This frame has gone scrappy with all the reds, together with blue and black all tied up. Both players had chances but couldn't capitalise so far. By far the longest frame of the match so far. Ding holds a 41-28 lead but there are still three reds left and they're in a line along the top cushion. After 56 minutes it's all on the black and John Higgins slides a brilliant black into the centre pocket.

Frame 5: Higgins missed the black off the spot and Ding countered with 63 to put him 59 up with 59 left on. Ding flukes the next red to put the frame beyond doubt.

Frame 4: Ding potted a cracking long red to get in, but missed on 13, Higgins responded with 67 to leave Ding needing a snooker. Ding is now 36 behind on the yellow but battling on for the snookers he needs. In the end Higgins gets the yellow, so it's 2-2 after the opening skirmishes as they go to the interval.

Frame 3: Ding got the first chance and made 69, but Higgins will carry on to seek snookers. Higgins gets one snooker but Ding slots home a long red to seal the frame.

Frame 2: A superb 67 clearance by John Higgins, after Ding missed on 43, levels the scores and sets up the match to be a thriller.

Frame 1: Play is underway and it's quite a nervy start by both players. Mistakes and chances for both player but it's Ding who pounces with a classy break to take the opener.
