C&A; Report 2010 >>
Code of Conduct for Uzbekistan
For all C&A; suppliers the C&A; Code of Conduct is binding. It strictly states that child labour is unacceptable for C&A.;
Already in Dezember 2007 C&A; obliged all of its global suppliers in written form not to use cotton fibre from Uzbekistan in the manufacturing of C&A; products.
Furthermore, C&A; has requested all suppliers worldwide to clearly state the origin for cotton fibre which is used within any C&A; merchandise.
C&A; statement on Bio Cotton
C&A; remains committed to being one of the leading textile retailers in the market for organic clothing.

Certified standards for Bio-Cotton require that no genetically modified cotton seeds are used in the cultivation of Bio-Cotton. Accredited certification agencies have the responsibility to ensure that this is the case.

C&A; is convinced that a growing number of our customers are interested not just in up to date fashion that offers value for money. The high demand for textiles made from organic cotton also show the customers’ high regard for a sustainable quality of textiles as well as a sustainable development in the cotton growing industry.

With regard to the report in the ‘Financial Times Deutschland’ (FTD) we are currently investigating in detail the claims being made by the authors.

We have contacted the certifying authorities and are actively investigating the validity of the details of the report. We will conduct an immediate in-depth-investigation on site in India.
C&A; statement on Mulesing
C&A; fervently opposes the practice of mulesing applied on Australian sheep.
For C&A; the current situation is not tolerable and alternative methods as previously advised by the Australian Wool Industry are urgently needed.
As C&A; does not see any significant progress, we get the impression, that the Australian Wool Industry is not in a position to meet the deadline to eliminate this practice until 2010 .
We have already been investigating alternative sources for non-mulesed wool and we will be directing our buying in the future towards these sources.
