  • Off-campus living was enticing to approximately 4,000 students.

  • The largest number of bed patients were handled by the infirmary when 92 students came down with the flu and had to be confined to bed.

  • Dr. Hollis Moore was named the new president of BGSU.

  • The Thurstin project was completed which included dividing it into three areas of concentration: relocating Thurstin Street, building the parking lot and walkways and landscaping the plaza area in front of the Administration Building.

  • Jane Fonda addressed the student body as a special guest speaker and Three Dog Night performed to a sell out crowd at Anderson Arena.

  • The magazine Sports Illustrated printed a letter and picture from student Connie Cassiday and the cheerleading squad noting that they were one of the first college teams in the country to cheer and do routine on the ice.

  • The Board of Trustees ruled that intoxicating beverages may be possessed and used on campus. The Cardinal Room began serving 3.2 beer.

  • BG's Popular Culture Center was one of the first in the nation.

  • The Cross Country men's team won the MAC.
