Just when you thought that the whole “cut a trailer of a random movie set to the music from Inception” thing was getting old and over-used, something like this comes along. Someone has expertly cut a trailer for the 1984 comedy classic Ghostbusters using Hans Zimmer’s score for Inception, and it’s actually pretty damn great. This just goes to show that with the right music, and a superbly talented/creative individual, you can pretty much make a great trailer out of anything. That being said, this version of Ghostbusters looks fantastically epic. Anyway, I’ll shut up now and let you hit the jump to check it out for yourself.

The music isn’t actually from the score. It was made for the trailer and is called “Mind Heist” by Zack Hemmsey

Here’s another Ghostbusters Inception Trailer. It covers the story pretty well.

It think all these Inception trailer parodies illustrates two things: 1. How much a piece of music can affect a trailer (or a movie), and 2. How good this piece of music is for setting that mood. The music is able to morph any movie cut to it into Serious Business.

it completely changes the tone, feels more like a thriller than a comedy. this guy has talent.

Agreed. I might have gone out to the movies if Ghostbusters was presented this way. Its a pity it was all before my time. LOL!

Anyone else think the stop frame animation & cel rendered proton-beams in that trailer actually look pretty cool? I was just watching the blu-ray of Starship Troopers and think that movie has a better chance of standing the test of time than most because it relied so heavily on practical FX. It’s really amazing to see how that movie trounces most of today’s CG-juiced bullshit. This Ghostbusters trailer I think most interestingly shows that those kinds of FX can still pass in this day and age… makes me really eager to see the new Thing movie!! Studios would do well to invest in the things that made this trailer so awesome… real f’n craft.

Awesome re-cut. Although I really wish they would have included Venkman’s line at the very end where he says “Mother Pussbucket” as the last audio before the final big bass note…still an awesome trailer.
