Stephen Craigie, Newcastle continued England’s fine tradition in the European Under 19’s winning the 2008 event, Craigpark Masters, Glasgow defeating Anthony McGill, Scotland 6-2 in the final for a place if granted by World Snooker on next seasons Main Tour.
The first two frames of the final close the 2nd on the black, Craigie who has been playing in English events since an early age 7 or 8 extended his lead to 4-0 over the events in form player making a 73 in the 4th frame.
The pair shared the next four frames Craigie winning his frames easily as McGill faltered after a tremendous display all week.

All the English players except Stuart Carrington, Grimsby won their eight player groups playing the best of 7’s comfortably, Carrington losing only 4 frames had to be content with 2nd place behind McGill who lost two frames and made three century’s.
Adam Duffy, Sheffield lost just two frames, Craigie 3 and Steven Gregson, York, 5 frames in the weeks earlier group stages.
The winner in the knockout stage last 32 overcame Ross Higgins, Scotland 4-2 from 2-0 down finishing with breaks of 81,91 and 95, Robert Carlisle also a Scot 4-1, Carrington 5-4 who led 4-3 with a 98 break, Craigie the 8th frame on the black and 65 to finish.
Craigie demolished Vincent Muldoon, Ireland 5-0 in the semi final with a 118 break in the final frame.
Up to the final McGill had played brilliantly whitewashing all his opponents losing only one frame in the semi finals to Duffy 5-1, McGill also made the events highest break a 140.
Duffy to reach the last four beat Tobias Rautenberg, Germany, 4-0 breaks of 70,67,99 and 71, Michal Zielinski, Poland 4-3 breaks of 93,65 and 95 and finally Austin Smith, Scotland 5-1.
Carrington accounted for Alex Fussell, Wales 4-1, 87 break and David Patterson, Scotland, 4-1 who had beaten Gregson 4-3 in the last 32.
