Why was this project so good?

Mark Allen was an amateur player with lots of talent who needed funding to build on his talent.  Lottery funding gave Mark the opportunity of attending a residential training camp, competing at various high-level competitions (incorporating European Under 19, World Under 21, European and World Open level), accessing specialist coaching and the purchase of necessary snooker equipment.  Mark won the amateur World and European Championships. Subsequently Mark has become a professional snooker player.
