MARCO FU admitted he wasn’t looking forward to the prospect of facing Mark Selby in the second round.
The Hong Kong potter had to wait for his chances against Stuart Bingham, but reeled off four frames in a row to knock out the number 11 seed.
Fu was 3-1 down at the interval but a missed pink by Bingham in the fifth frame proved a turning point as the 33-year-old embarked on a surge which took him to the brink of the last 16.
Bingham hung in with an 81 to take the ninth frame and reduce the gap to 5-4 but he was only prolonging his misery as Fu wrapped up the match when clinching a scrappy tenth.
“I felt it was a good match,” Fu said. “Stuart was playing really well in the first four frames. I knew I was hitting the ball okay and didn’t do a lot wrong. I think the fifth frame was quite crucial.”
On the prospect of meeting Selby on Wednesday, Fu added: “Everyone is tough now especially Mark Selby, the number one. I’m not looking forward to it at all.”
