Holt
Michael Holt hopes his best years are still ahead of him in snooker after winning Players Tour Championship event ten with a 4-2 victory over Dominic Dale in the final.

Nottingham's World No 38 Holt captured a PTC title for the second time by winning seven matches at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield, beating the likes of Mark Selby and John Higgins to get to the final.

Breaks of 75 and 58 put him 2-0 up on Dale, and though Dale drew within a frame at 3-2, Holt wrapped up the result in frame six with a run of 44.

"I'm never far away from being very good or very bad," said 33-year-old Holt, who won PTC12 last season but has never been beyond the quarter-finals of a full ranking event. "My attitude has been terrible recently but it was a lot better here. Maybe the shorter matches suit me because there's not enough time to lose my head.

"I'm good enough to do well in any event but my attitude has stunk at times. I haven't achieved what I should have done - I've been in the top 32 but that's not what I turned pro for.

"I've said it before, but if I can keep a consistent temperament then I've still got time to achieve a lot in the game," added Holt. "This win is for my dad, as well as my manager Dave Bramley who has stuck by me."

The PTC is a series of 12 short events, with the top 24 on the final Order of Merit going through to the Grand Final in March, providing they have played in at least three domestic events and three overseas. The next tournament is PTC11 in Sheffield from December 17-19.
