Internationally, the Channel Island milk industry varies between countries. In general, markets that are dominated by liquid milk sales (UK, Canada and the US) have significantly fewer CI cows and smaller industries than dairy industries involved in the production of processed dairy products, for example South Africa, the Netherlands and New Zealand.
