Moto Hagio's The Heart of Thomas coming in Summer/Fall 2012
Written by Mike Baehr | Filed under Moto HagioMatt ThornmangaComing Attractions 14 Sep 2011 5:03 PM

from Heart of Thomas - Moto Hagio
(click for larger version)

Word has slipped out and is spreading around the Twittersphere like wildfire, so we thought we'd make it official: following our wildly successful edition of A Drunken Dream and Other Stories by Moto Hagio, we will be publishing Hagio-sensei's The Heart of Thomas (Thomas no Shinzō /トーマの心臓 ), edited and translated by Matt Thorn, next year. The book is planned to be a $35.00, 8" x 10" 480-page hardcover, black and white with 16 pages of duotone (as seen above), and is currently scheduled for August 2012, subject to change.

We'll be posting more information about this book and our complete Spring/Summer 2012 lineup in the near future — stay tuned!

[Note: This post has been updated to add the missing "The" to the title.]

I got really happy when I read the news. I live in Brazil, but I'll sure buy this edition. Thank you very much. It's not too late for the Western audiences to read Hagio Moto.

WONDERFUL
written by Eric Henwood-Greer, September 14, 2011
This news just made my year. Seriously, I've been so busy lately that I haven't had time to read all the blogs about manga in English, but nothing has really interested me since A Drunken Dream that came out last year--

I've been fascinated, and collecting, Hagio's titles since I was a young teen, nearly twenty years ago, and never thought we'd get anymore in English, particularly Heart of Thomas. My only real concern is how I'm going to wait a year to get this.

Thanks so much for bringing this out in English!

Eric

And to answer My Nick's question, the page count roughly is equal to the collected edition of all three tankoubons released in Japan (but I assume leaves out the later, short, prequel story)--so yes, I would assume it will be complete. Wonderful to get it with the two colour pages as well--if it's as beautiful a volume as Drunken Dream, I will have no complaints.

Wonderful! I'm from Mexico and I'll buy it for sure!

Maybe is a little bit early to ask this but... is this manga going to be avaible signed as well like "A Drunken Dream and Other Stories"?. I hope this can be possible, it would be amazing (more than it already is).

A Must-buy

This is amazing news. I mean, some manga is fun, and then some are absolutely must have and 'Heart of Thomas' is it. Maybe Fantagraphics has considered releasing the deluxe editions of Swan?
