The week between the Grammys and the Oscars saw a return to normal schedules, with The Big Bang Theory still dominant in Canada. Long-running reality shows Survivor and The Amazing Race both came back strong. CTV has to be wondering if Smash will be a smash after a big drop in Week 2 numbers. The Simpsons’ 500th episode was a winner for Global. CBC’s Republic of Doyle proved it is still a million-plus hit against the brunt of the U.S. schedule deep into its season.

Here’s how all it all played out across Canada in prime time among adults 2+ the week of Feb. 13 to 19 according to overnight estimates:

MONDAY

Global had its usual strong Monday. House opened at 1,691,000. NCIS did 1,525,000 followed by a record turnout for Hawaii FIVE-0 (2,052,000).

The Voice opened at 8 for CTV with 1,748,000 viewers, down slightly from the week before. Of more concern has to be Smash, which dropped 25 per cent from its opening week to 983,000 viewers.

Two and a Half Men was again the big draw over at CTV Two, where it was found by 1,328,000. Mike & Molly followed at 9:30 (1,097,000). Castle did 776,000. The Mentalist at 8 drew 423,000.

Alcatraz seems to have found its level in Week 5 on City (749,000). How I Met Your Mother (824,000) and a soaring 2 Broke Girls (965,000) opened City’s night, with Law & Order: UK (159,000) airing at 10.

With all the first-run import competition, CBC’s Monday lineup was down for a second week. New comedy Mr. D drew 684,000 viewers, Little Mosque 371,000 and Redemption Inc. 457,000.

A Canucks game scored 469,000 on Sportsnet Pacific. Score pinned 283,000 with WWE Raw. History saw 257,000 tune in for Vietnam in HD, again just a bit higher than what they drew at 5:30 for a rerun of M*A*S*H (244,000). Midsomer Murders killed on TVO (232,000). Episode 3 of  Canada’s Greatest Know-It-All drew 188,000 on Discovery. Pretty Little Liars on MuchMusic drew 182,000.

TUESDAY

Glee (1,720,000) remains a steady draw at Global. NCIS: Los Angeles rounded up 1,993,000 at 9 with Parenthood raising another 663,000 at 10.

Whitney (909,000), Hot in Cleveland (972,000) and the second episode of The River (803,000, down from 1,268,000 the week before) kept CTV under the million mark for two prime-time hours. Unforgettable (1,341,000) boosted things back up at 10.
