Actor Kwon Sang-woo’s first Chinese movie will make its premiere today. “Shadow of Love” also stars Hong Kong actress Cecelia Cheung and was directed by Poon Yuen-Leung. It will open at some 4,000 cinemas across China, marking the first time that a Korean actor has been involved in a movie of such scale in China.

Ahead of the launch date, Kwon attended press conferences on Monday and Tuesday in Beijing. More than 100 media outlets were present to catch a glimpse of the actor.

The romantic comedy starts with a wealthy heiress going missing and follows the adventure that ensues as her boyfriend finds a woman who looks exactly the same as his vanished lover.

Cheung plays both characters in the film and thus spends a lot of time with Kwon, her love interest.

Last year was quite a busy one for the Hallyu star, who continues to emerge in the Chinese market.

He collaborated with Jackie Chan on the movie “Chinese Zodiac” (2012) and took part in filming for Chinese drama “Poong Hwa Sul Wul” back in March.

권상우 '그림자애인' 중국서 4000개↑ 대규모 개봉 '한류스타 위엄'

권상우 주연 '그림자 애인'이 중국 전역에서 개봉된다.

권상우 측 관계자는 5월 10일 뉴스엔과 통화에서 "'그림자 애인'이 내일(11일) 중국에서 개봉한다. 지난해 중국에서 촬영을 끝낸 로맨틱 코미디 작품이다"고 밝혔다.

영화 '그림자 애인'(감독 반원량)은 권상우 장백지 주연으로 권상우의 첫 중국 진출작이다. '리피드 사랑해'에서 제목이 변경됐고 중국 심천과 홍콩에서 올로케로 촬영이 진행됐다. 5월 11일 베이징 상하이 등 중국 현지 약 4000개 이상 스크린에서 개봉된다.

관계자는 "5월 8일에 베이징 프로모션을 진행했고 9일에는 광저우 프로모션도 잘 끝냈다. 중국내에서 영화에 대한 반응이 좋다. 예전부터 4,000개 이상 규모의 스크린에서 개봉된다고 들었다. 중국이 워낙 나라가 넓지만 꽤 큰 규모라고 알고 있다"고 설명했다.

이와 함께 권상우는 오는 11월 성룡 함께 작업한 영화 '12 차이니스 조디악 헤즈'가 전세계 개봉될 예정으로 한류스타로서 더 확고히 자리매김을 할 것으로 보인다.

'그림자 애인'은 권상우가 재벌 상속녀 애인이 사라진 후 똑같이 생긴 가난한 꽃집 여자 장백지에게 여자친구 행세를 부탁하면서 벌어지는 이야기를 그린다.
