Jerry Uht Park
Since opening day on June 20, 1995, more than 1 million baseball fans have passed through the gates of Jerry Uht Park. The ballpark is home to the Erie SeaWolves, a professional baseball team that began as a short-season affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Jerry Uht Park’s home opener in 1995 against the Jamestown Jammers had a fairy-tale ending as the SeaWolves’ Jose Guillen knocked one out of the park in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. Guillen made his debut in the majors the following year with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Today he is a right fielder for the Kansas City Royals.
Jerry Uht Park became home to the Double A SeaWolves in 1999 as an affiliate of the Anaheim Angels. After two years with the Angels, the SeaWolves moved to its current affiliate, the Detroit Tigers.
The 6,000-seat stadium features six luxury suites, two picnic areas, two beer gardens featuring 11 “Club Seat” boxes, five main concession stands and a raised upper deck of seats along the first base side. These seats were voted into the Top 10 Seats in Minor League Baseball. In 2006, a new $1 million scoreboard was added that features live fan footage, video clips and animated graphics. The park also touts three consecutive prestigious “Groundskeeper of the Year” awards.
Adjacent to the Tullio Arena, the park is also home to collegiate and high school baseball playoffs and all-star games as well as special events like the Erie Philharmonic's Pops in the Park.
