CNN Reveals New 7PM Show Title: Erin Burnett: OutFront

Details have finally emerged about Erin Burnett‘s new CNN show, revealed just now via the former CNBC hosts twitter feed. Burnett tweeted out a link to a 10 second promotional video that announces the title of her new show, OutFront, also revealing a gritty-but-cool-yet-still-accessible graphics package and soundtrack that befits the new CNN program for 7PM. No specific debut date was announced, though her tweet did say “in September.”

Burnett is a well regarded news veteran who has household name recognition for the financial news set (from her time at CNBC) and has high expectations to improve the lead-in ratings for CNN’s new slate of primetime shows, that has not been helped by the tepid ratings of John King USA.

Burnett can be heard providing voiceover tracks proclaiming her desire for people to say that her show is “smart,” and that her show will be “authentic” and “have courage.” These are certainly all good things for any show to aspire to, especially a new CNN program set to debut this Fall. The question now is, how will this be different than the failed years of Zahn’s original show, the transformed Out In The Open, turned Campbell Brown program.

  • Librablue

I agree with Chris Lindhartsen’s comments above. Didn’t both those shows promise the same things? I will be surprised if this does any better than “John King USA” or the other shows that failed at that time period.

It won’t matter to me one way or the other because I will continue to watch “The Fox Report” with Shepard Smith.

Based on Erin’s worldly experience and knowledge of numerous business cultures on virtually all continents, she is capable of bringing the audience a creative and informative show which should keep viewers glued to the screen. I was afraid that CNN was going to stick her with a general news program as had been previously suggested and have her rehash the news from The Situation Room and John King USA. Wish her much success with OutFront, which should prove to be innovative and quite interesting.

What’s that on her face, a nose or a ski-jump? CNN continues its drift to the bottom of the oxidation pond.

  • DietCokeHead

Another terrible, unwatchable crapfest that I will never watch unless i’m stranded at the airport. Good job CNN, keep up the good work.

  • ROTFLMAO

    There will be no difference!
This one is doomed before it starts.
Six months to a year, max!!
    You heard it here…………..

  • ROTFLMAO

    I am going with ski-jump!

That is her one weakness- a huge nose and the fact that she does indeed look like Howdy Doody when she laughs.

“has high expectations to improve the lead-in ratings for CNN’s new slate of primetime shows”

I think they mean AC360. Except for the coverage of Irene, Anderson’s ratings have been worse than they were at 10pm. I can’t believe they are still pumping money into AC360 trying to make it pay off. Money isn’t the problem with AC360.

I wouldn’t call AC360 new, it has been on since 2003.

Erin Burnett better enjoy being out front while she can.  Because it will only last until the first ratings report on her time slot.

I was really hoping they’d call it Erin Burnett Out in the Open Arena Now No Bias No Bull The Point Tonight  Live.  For short: Erin Burnett OITOANNBNBTPTL.

“Outfront”.  “Lean Forward”.   All these nonsensical titles.  If they were being honest they would call it “Erin Burnett- Regurgitating the day’s liberal narrative”.

Why not just run a continuous loop of Wolf Blitzer saying “I love Barack 0bama” while dressed in a chicken suit ?

  • ATHF

    FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ATHF

Exactly. She is just to nice when it comes down to it and not hot enough like Robin Meade. Unless she is going to be the white version of Soledad O’brien and do show that hates on white people for being white her show is off the air in 2 months. Where can I place my bet? She’ll end up on day time tv like The View or something similar.

  • ATHF

    2 months

Your new show, Erin, is smart, courageous all you want it to be.  But in my heart of hearts I’d hoped you ran off with that Russian oligarc you interviewed.  You two steamed up the lens something terrific.  I never saw such chemistry.  Marry him.  But continue to broadcast.  There are too few talents like yours. The best to you in Light and Love.

she’s gorgeous, and yes, women like her reject you all the time.  Get over it.

  • Anonymous

again, you can always tell the posters who have been rejected by pretty women.  get over it..

CNN finally picked someone smart, likable and interesting other than Cooper, I’ll be shocked if her show is anything but a huge hit.   Not FNC hit, but cable news numbers.

  • Anonymous

you can always tell how few non-business people watch CNBC.  CNBC viewers know she’s bright, witty, fun-spirited and a tough interview.

  • Holistic

Unless she continually  comes out in a bra less outfit, I see the rating hitting the skids after a couple of months

  • Ejknight

The full title should be “Erin Burnett- Regurgitating the day’s liberal narrative and NOT spewing republican crap”

  • ejknight

yeah. although i like erin from cnbc this show would be in trouble in 2 months. it would be gone by april. she will be back on cnbc in sept 2012.

  • Jerry Baustian

I am tired of Shepard Smith, and often watch NCIS reruns on the USA Network instead. So now I’ll have Erin Burnett as a credible alternative. I liked her a lot with Mark Haynes on Squawk on CNBC… I just hope she doesn’t veer into taking partisan sides like everyone else.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jj-Wisniewski/100002654075475 Jj Wisniewski

Exactly. Here’s another one for you, “Fair and Balanced”.

  • Jerry Baustian

Nobody would have ever imagined that “fair and balanced” could be a selling-point for a network — until it became obvious to all but the paid flacks that none of FNC’s competitors were even remotely fair and balanced.

You may not like what FNC does, but for many or even most of us it is what the other networks do that we find so objectionable.

  • maude bagley

    Come on
She needs to keep her training bra on.
Out front?  There is nothing out front of her.

  • Anonymous

Yes. How rude it is of them to report news that you don’t agree with.

  • Dave2005ad

Erin Burnett looked very foolish when she smiled in triumph after believing she had just shot down a protester on Wall Street by pointing out that some of the banks that had paid back their government bail out loans with interest.  As a supposedly educated person, how could she have forgotten that these very same banks and their greedy and greed besotted bosses could not begin to repay the damage to the American economy that they caused in their mad rush for profits over buying or taking on loans that were toxic and were doing this with other peoples money?  CNN slipped up and got a lightweight.

I like the show BUT I find it very distracting to watch Erin wink/blink/and make “cute scrunched up ” faces. She reminds me of a nervous high school debater.  This  past week with the guest hosts reminded me how difficult it has been to watch  Erin…they came across as more seasoned/calmer/and less fidgety. Much easier to watch the show.

what i would like to know is why dosent any of the news people look into the keystone pipe line as I understand most of not maybe all of it is being paid for by other countries not canada and most if not all of the oil that is going to be pumped through it will not stay in the USA its going to other countries we need to keep oil here to help ease the high prices of gas in this country
