February 21, 1988 SETHI MAKES FIRST AMATEUR MAXIMUM

Geet Sethi recorded the first official 147 break in amateur competition in the Indian National Championship.

February 21, 1993 DAVIS ADDS EUROPEAN OPEN TO HIS PORTFOLIO

At the Matchroom Schijnpoort, in Antwerp, Steve Davis captured one of the few ranking titles to have eluded him so far when he won the Humo European Open beating Stephen Hendry 10-4 in the final.

February 21, 1999 HENDRY GETS HOME WIN FOR SCOTLAND

In an all Scottish final, Stephen Hendry beat Graeme Dott 9-1 to win the Regal Scottish Open at the Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre. This remains the only time that a Scot won this event.

February 21, 1981 WALES RULE IN IRELAND AS TERRY RETAINS TITLE

Defending champion, Terry Griffiths again won the Benson & Hedges Irish Masters at Goff's. In the third consecutive all-Welsh final in this event, he defeated Ray Reardon 9-7.

February 22, 1984 TOLLY COBBOLD HAT TRICK FOR DAVIS

At the Ipswich Corn Exchange, Steve Davis won the Tolly Cobbold Classic invitation tournament for the third year running, beating Tony Knowles 8-2 in the final.

February 22, 1997 HENDRY WINS SCOTLAND'S FIRST RANKING EVENT

The International Open moved to Aberdeen to give Scotland its first ever ranking event and Stephen Hendry gave the Scottish fans a home victory. He beat Tony Drago 9-1 to give him his 28th ranking title and equal the record of Steve Davis. It was Drago's first major ranking final.

February 22, 1998 FIRST SCOTTISH OPEN GOES TO RONNIE.

Having changed its name from the International Open, the first Regal Scottish Open was won by Ronnie O'Sullivan who beat John Higgins 9-5 in the final at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

February 22, 2009 ALI CARTER CLAIMS FIRST RANKING TITLE.

At the Newport Centre, Ali Carter claimed his first ranking title when he defeated Joe Swail 9-5 to win the Welsh Open. From 2-5 down Ali won seven frames in a row to clinch the title. For Joe it was his first major final after losing in nine previous semi finals.

February 23, 1983 DAVIS RETAINS TOLLY CLASSIC

On of the major invitation events of its day, the Tolly Cobbold Classic, was won for the second year running by Steve Davis who beat Terry Griffiths 7-5 in the final at the Corn Exchange in Ipswich.

February 23, 1992 STACEY SETS NEW RECORD WOMEN'S BREAK

Former world champion, Stacey Hillyard set a new highest break for ladies' snooker with a run of 137 in the General Portfolio Women's Classic in Aylesbury.

February 24, 1874 COOK RETAINS BILLIARDS CHAMPIONHIP

William Cook retained the World Billiards Championship beating off a second successive challenge from John Roberts Jr. 1000-784. Cook had first won the title in 1870 and then lost it to Roberts two moths later. He regained it in May 1871, beating Roberts again, and this was his third successful defence since then.

February 24, 1982 DAVIS WINS TOLLY COBBOLD CLASSIC

The fourth running of the Tolly Cobbold Classic at the Corn Exchange in Ipswich resulted in a first win for Steve Davis who beat Dennis Taylor 8-3 in the final.

February 24, 1996 HIGGINS RETAINS INTERNATIONAL OPEN

At the new venue of the Link Centre in Swindon, John Higgins retained his Sweater Shop International Open title beating Rod Lawler 9-3 in the final. Rod was appearing in his first major final.

February 25, 2001 EIGHTH MAXIMUM FOR HENDRY

Stephen Hendry compiled an incredible eighth maximum break in professional competition against Mark Williams in the final of the Rothmans Malta Grand Prix at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. Stephen went on to win 7-1 to win the title for the second time.

February 26, 1972 ALEX CONQUERS THE WORLD

Alex Higgins took the Park Drive World Professional Championship at his first attempt. In the final at the Selly Park British Legion in Birmingham, he defeated twice former champion, John Spencer, 3731.

February 27, 2000 KEN WINS AGAIN IN MALTA

Ken Doherty won the Rothmans Malta Grand Prix for the second time beating Mark Williams 9-3 in the final at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. It was the only occasion that this tournament was a full world ranking event.
