In 2009, BGSU announced plans to construct a new residence hall, "South Central Hall," located on the site of Rodgers Quadrangle. Students had the opportunity to select their preferences from a list of ten proposed names, and they chose Centennial Hall, marking the 100th Anniversary of BGSU.  

The new facility was designed to house 664 beds, including both single and double rooms, and has freshmen residents as its focus.  It features in-unit climate control and high-speed wireless internet.  First floor amenity areas include flexible programming space, high-tech group study and workgroup spaces.

Listed below are additional highlights in the history of the building:

  • 2009, construction plans announced for two new residence halls
  • 2010, demolition of Rodgers Quadrangle, consisting of Rodgers Hall and two Fraternity Row cottage houses (Sigma Phi Epsilon and Phi Kappa Tau) begun
  • 2010, construction of Northwest Hall scheduled to begin in April
  • 2010, residence hall named Centennial Hall, recognizing the 100th Anniversary of BGSU
  • 2011, Centennial Hall scheduled to open in the fall
