IRIB director visits location of South Korean TV series popular in Iran |

TEHRAN -- The director of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has visited MBC Dramia, the filming location of “Jumong” and “Dong Yi”, South Korean TV series that are popular in Iran.
A number of Iranian and South Korean officials accompanied Ezzatollah Zarghami during the visit on Thursday.
He traveled to Seoul last week to attend the 49th General Assembly of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), which ended on October 17.
MBC Dramia is located at Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si in Gyeonggi-do Province.
“Jumong”, which is about the life story of Jumong Taewang, the founder of the kingdom of Goguryeo, was aired on IRIB’s Channel 3 in 2009.
“Dong Yi”, a historical drama about the love story between King Sukjong and Choi Suk-Bin, is currently being aired on the same channel.
Zarghami also met “Dong Yi” director Lee Byung-hoon who had also directed “Jewel in the Palace”, another Korean TV series popular among Iranians.
“Jewel in the Palace”, which is about Jang-geum, the first female royal physician of the Joseon Dynasty of Korea, was broadcast from the IRIB’s Channel 3 in 2007,
