Marlon Brando

Earnings: $9 million
Occupation: Actor
Date of Death: July 1, 2004
Age: 80
Cause: Heart attack

Like Elvis, Brando is an American icon with international appeal. Unlike Elvis, his brand has yet to be fully exploited. In 2006, gamers who weren't born when The Godfather came out in 1972 will get a chance to see a digital Don Corleone in Electronic Arts' long-awaited videogame. And expect more Brando memorabilia to hit the market the following year in conjunction with the film's 25th anniversary. In the meantime, Brando's heirs are pocketing dollars from a $2.3 million auction, reportedly much to the chagrin of his eldest son, Christian. A majority stake in the actor's private Tahitian island was sold to developers, who have plans to turn it into a luxury eco-hotel. -- Leah Hoffmann
