Blinkx reaches 100 million users milestone
27 March 2012
Video search engine Blinkx has reached a new audience milestone, having surpassed 100 million global monthly unique users in January 2012, according to data from Comscore.
Blinkx has a library of more than 35 million hours of video and audio content and has signed more than 720 partners.
Online video is the fastest growing segment of the market according to Emarketer, with online video advertising forecast to reach $3.12bn in 2012.
“We‘re proud to have reached this important milestone,” says Blinkx founder and chief executive Suranga Chandratillake. “We are committed to offering consumers the largest index and the most effective video search technology on the web, through any device – whether it’s on their laptops, phones or connected TVs.”
Earlier this year, Blinkx was selected to power AOL’s video search results and also formed a partnership with Agence France-Presse (AFP) to offer users an online global news hub.
