From the horses mouth

Visitors and Londoners have been flocking to marvel at Claridge’s Christmas tree for many years and the hotel has just revealed their Christmas tree for 2012, designed by Kally Ellis the renowned British floral designers of McQueens.

This year’s enchanting design has seen Ellis draw upon the natural world for inspiration. Its magnolia branches are covered with lichen moss and studded with crystal and emerald jewel eggs in white, gold and silver to create a canopy of colour and glamour that reflect and emulate the Art Deco beauty of the Mayfair hotel.

Under the boughs of the tree McQueens have created ‘Forest Murmurs’ a wild and natural woodland floor  of peat moss, sprinkled with snow, and with hidden white hellebore peeping through, as designer Ellis says:

“With Forest Murmurs, we’re capturing the spirit of a traditional Christmas – the nostalgia that evokes – and combining that with the style and glamour associated with Claridge’s that gives it a certain sparkle. It brings a freshness and warmth that we think sums up the season perfectly.”

This is the fourth year that a longstanding partner of Claridge's has been invited to create the tree including John Galliano for Dior and is set to be just as magical and eye catching.
